As one of the rooms where much of the messiest things that happen in the house are performed, the kitchen needs a decent clean every now and again, as simply wiping down the surfaces after you’ve washed up is not really good enough in all honesty. There will be bits of food and the like that get stuck in various nooks and crannies, and it is essential that you get rid of all of that nasty stuff, as otherwise you risk getting ant and rodent infestations. The fact of the matter is that you need to get the place properly clean as it is the area of the house that needs to be the most hygienic! Whilst there is a lot to be said for good kitchen upkeep in general, there are a few tricks and tips that you can use to ensure that your kitchen cleaning is not too much of a nightmare.

For a start, you may want to utilize the things within your kitchen to help you clean! Many people worry about the chemicals in the products that they use in the kitchen, as they come in to such close contact with the food! What good is it sanitizing the kitchen surfaces if your children then ingest the nasty chemicals that are used to do the sanitizing!? You could use vinegar or lemon instead, mixed with a bit of water in a spray bottle for easier application... It may sound strange, but the acid in these two natural ingredients will cut through grease and kill germs with ease, without the added toxicity of the chemicals used in some cleaning products. If you are looking to get your microwave clean for instance, ow will find that it takes a fair amount of scrubbing at awkward angles to get it looking like new. However, if you squeeze a halved lemon into a bowl, add the lemon halves and top up with water, then you have a bit of a shortcut! Sound strange? Put the bowl in the microwave for four minutes on a high setting, and when it is done, you should be able to simply wipe the inside clean; the acid in the lemon will evaporate and coat the inside of the unit, making the surface extremely easy to de-grease! Simple.

Slightly tougher than that easy trick is cleaning the oven. If you are regularly cleaning the oven, then it should not be too much of an issue at all. However, if it has been neglected, then you are in trouble! The fact is, there are such high temperatures and such a lot of grease in cooking with an oven, that it is nigh on impossible to get it all off sometimes! You need to let the oven cleaner soak in really well, and ensure that the baked on grease gets as much contact with the cleaning fluid as possible, as the cleaning basically relies on the chemical breakdown of the hard baked grease! Leave the cleaning fluid in there for a good ten to twenty minutes, and when you do get to scrubbing it, see if you can find a long handled stiff brush, perhaps even a wire one, that can be used without you having to stick your head in the oven! This should hopefully save your back, and mean that you are able to scrub effectively for longer! There are no real secrets to keeping your kitchen clean, it’s all common sense, so make sure that you do it regularly and get in to a pattern of doing it in a logical order to prevent any wasted time!
